Bal Bikas Boarding High School is running in its own earthquake resistance building.
Since its very founding, the school is emphasizing on the proper infrastructure and facility of the
school. The school has two modern buildings: One for pre-primary and the other for primary to
secondary level. The four-storied building has spacious ventilated rooms for the students to study
comfortably. Each classroom is well furnished, decorated and has CCTV. The school has library
with extensive collection of books, well-equipped laboratories, computer labs, separate Chinese
Language classroom with enough reading materials and the system for audiovisual classes. The
building has a large auditorium for carrying out most of the academic activities. The most
hygienic canteen spread in a large area in a separate block, can hold almost all the students at a
time. The front part of the school building has a large space, enough for the students to perform
various extracurricular activities. The school also has a separate playground for the smaller
children for recreational activities. Other facilities in the school include table tennis board,
standard size basketball court, at times baseball training and many more. The school has the bus
facility too. Although, the bus runs through the major routes of Budhanilkantha area, it extends
its bus service further according to the need of the students.
Apart from English language, Chinese language is equally important in today’s world.
When the Chinese market is domination the whole world, Chinese language is becoming popular
in the world. Realizing the importance of Chinese language, school has been providing Chinese
language classes to the students for the last three years. Since then two Chinese teachers have
been teaching the language in the school. The first teacher who taught the language was Ms. Sun
Yihang from Heilongjiang province of China. She taught Chinese language in the school for
three years, and made the students capable of speaking basic Chinese language. When her
teaching duration for two years was over, she left for China. Immediately after her departure,
another Chinese teacher Mr. Dong Jingwen joined the school. Presently, she has been teaching
the language. We can proudly say that our students can speak Chinese language. A year before,
when the supervisor of Chinese Lnaguage Classes visited our school, a welcome programme was
organized in school where Arusna Lama from grade seven welcomed him through her welcome
speech in Chinese language. The supervisor and other Chinese guests were very happy from her
performance. This incident reflects that our school is very much successful in teaching Chinese
language classes to the students.
We are living in a world where sports and extra-curricular activities are given as equal
importance as to the academic activities. They are very crucial for students’ mental, physical and
spiritual development. Realizing and internalizing this fact, the school has been emphasizing on
sports and extra-curricular activities. Sports and Martial Arts have become the integral part of
Bal Bikas Boarding High School. Every year school organizes sports related activities like
‘Sports Meet’, which encompasses every sport activities. Bal Bikas dedicates one full week
every year to celebrate the ‘Sports Meet’ preceded by over a month long preparation. In this
‘Sports Meet’, almost every student participates and shows their sportsmanship. Besides this,
futsal, basketball, football, rugby, marathon, swimming and table tennis competition are the
other activities that the school organizes throughout the year. Those activities have really turned
out to be supportive for the holistic development of the students. Martial Art is another attraction
of this school. Hundreds and thousands of students have already been instructed in Martial Arts
especially Kun.-fu and Self Defense. The students have been receiving arduous training of Kung-
fu and Self Defense under the proper guidance of renowned national and international
instructors. That is why; the students of this school have been able to participate in national and
international Kung-fu Championship and win many gold medals. This is not only the pride of our
school but also the pride of the entire nation. Tai Chi instructor Michelle from Belgium has
instructed the students on Tai Chi and Qi –Gong. Li Dongbiao the head coach from Gungdong
Baiyun University of China has instructed the students on Lion and Dragon Dance. Hans Hohn
the grand master from Germany have offered students special and arduous training on self-
defense. Student of this school Aayub Ghimire got an opportunity of receiving a month of
special training on Self Defense and Kung-fu from grand master Yan Dian in Shaolin Temple of
China. All these activities are very important for the students’ health, fitness, stamina,
confidence and entire personality development.
Art, music and dance are the expression of human mind. The school provides art, music
and dance classes to the students of all the classes in order to generate aesthetic sense in them.
Art, music and dance are very important for the students to help them stick to their culture,
religion and identity. These things make them more cultured. The school has ever emphasized on
dance, music and art. Time and again, on different occasions, various programmes and
competitions related to dance, music and art take place in school to inspire the students on these
subjects and make them more creative and skilled. The students also do have regular dance,
music and art classes in school. From time to time students get training on handicrafts and
different other creative art works. From the very beginning, the students have been participating
in dance, music and art competition on different occasions, and have won prizes and certificates.
The school feels proud of these things.
